Microsoft (MS) Office

Let’s start with the basics!


What is Microsoft?


An organization founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen, Microsoft Corporation, is an American IT MNC which provides best-known software products: the Windows line of operating systems, the Microsoft Office suite, and the IE and Edge web browsers.



Microsoft Office Suite’s core applications are a word processor (Word), a spreadsheet program (Excel) and a presentation program (PowerPoint), an email client (Outlook), a data storage system (OneDrive), and a desktop publishing app (Teams). Commercial versions of these applications are licensed as a standalone product or as a component of Microsoft Office Suite of software, which can be purchased either with a perpetual license or as part of a Microsoft 365 subscription.


MS Word - It is used to create professional-quality documents, letters, reports, etc. It helps you to read or write a document and design your documents in a better way. Microsoft Word's native file formats are denoted either by a <.doc> or <.docx> filename extension.


MS Excel - It is an industry leading spreadsheet software program, a powerful data visualization and analysis tool. It helps users to format, organize and calculate data in a creative way. Microsoft Excel’s primary file format has Excel Binary File Format <.XLS> filename extension.


MS PowerPoint - It is used to create slideshows composed of text, pictures, graphs, data, and other objects, which can be displayed on-screen and shown by the presenter to visually explain the information to the audience. Microsoft PowerPoint’s file format has <.ppt> and <.pptx> filename extension.



MS Outlook - It is an application to connect with customers, clients or business. It includes an email client, calendar, task manager and address book. It can be used to manage client/customer’s

conversation, workload and mail flows easily.



MS OneDrive - It is a file hosting platform to save your documents and files which can later be accessed from any device or location.



MS Teams - It is an application to communicate in a workspace. Communication could be texts, files, images, audio or video meetings.
